Stacy Gertis is the Creative Director at McGaw Graphics and the mother of two little girls. But she is also an accomplished artist, honing her craft for the past 20 years. And she has shared her artistic ability with those around her for many of those years. Gertis has taught Paint Nights at the Main Street Winery in Arcade for the past two years, and her talent is visible in the mural that is painted on the outside wall of the building, which she was commissioned to do by Village Mayor Donna Schiener. She also had fun in September at the Arcade Antique and Art Festival, doing face painting and working with children who enjoyed two props she painted for the occasion. She makes her works available on her website, and she accepts commissioned projects to do portraits. From her website: “She specializes in custom portraits that capture the bond between people and their pets. Stacy’s work aims to evoke emotions, connect with viewers and highlight the natural beauty in her subjects.”
Gertis’ talent does not stop with her drawings. In 2023, she was also a published author, responsible for the creation of two children’s books. Gertis illustrated “Lola, the Chihuahua That Wanted to Be a Goat,” and she wrote and illustrated “How Abby Found Her Home.” Gertis has shared these heartwarming books in schools and daycares. Also from the website, “Through her engaging storytelling and captivating illustrations, Gertis takes young readers on an enchanting journey that touches their hearts and sparks their imaginations.”
Gertis graduated from Castleton University, with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts. She has been selling her art pieces for many years. She says that she has a passion for working in charcoal, but has also developed a desire to do acrylic painting. She sells prints of her sketches. These include drawings of the Bar Bill in East Aurora, Niagara Falls, many different types of animals and even the Steam Engine for the Arcade and Attica Railroad. And she said she has acrylic paintings that she has collected from the Paint Nights—Highland Cows, flowers, snowmen, fall scenes and more, which are 11×14 pieces on stretched canvas.
